problemas para configurar wifi ar5005gs

hola soy nuevo en linux y no consigo configurar mi tarjeta wifi. tengo una inves i-w108 pci con chipset atheros ar5005gs instale ubuntu 8.04 que ya trae su propio madwifi pero me detectaba la red pero no conectaba desistale el madwidi que traia y instale yo el miopero seguia sin conectar luego lei que el network manager daba problemas asi que lo he desistalado tambien y instale el wicd pero sigue sin conectar asi que estoy sin conexion a internet con linux y no quisiera volver a windows si alguien me podria ayudar. dejo algunos datos por si pueden servir de ayuda

Hola, creo que para tu chipset atheros tenes que compilar los drivers vos mismo... yp lo tuve que hacer a mano con los drivers madwifi y anduvo ok..
